  • There is a $5 parking fee (100% of this fee goes to building new restrooms on the west side of the park).

As you enter the parking lot you will be greeted by helpful volunteers who will direct you to the next available parking space. Too far to walk? Enjoy a ride to the gate in a complimentary ride on one of our convenient people movers.

  • Powerland Heritage Park is just off of I-5, Exit 263 near Salem, Oregon.

    3995 BROOKLAKE RD NE
    BROOKS, OREGON 97303

Note: Google recognizes the address as:

3995 BROOKLAKE RD NE SALEM, OREGON 97303

  • Children are among our most treasured guests during the Great Oregon Steam-Up! Please keep in mind that there are VERY large pieces of equipment operating at all times, respond accordingly to ensure a safe experience for all.

The show occupies much of the 62-acre campus at Powerland Heritage Park, that can be a lot of walking for little legs. Strollers are welcome, please be advised that the ground is largely unpaved and somewhat of a bumpy ride. Closed toed shoes are encouraged for the entire family.

Once inside the gates be sure and get a Youth Passport for the children (ages 4 and older) in your group. They’ll have fun visiting the museums and getting it stamped. Once full, bring it to the Youth Passport booth for a surprise! Please, only one entry per day per person.

  • We are pet-friendly, but we have some rules:

Dogs must be leashed, quiet, and cleaned-up-after at all times.

NO "zip" leashes (the retractable kind); this is so dogs do not lunge unexpectedly at kids or other dogs.

Aggressive dogs will be banned, this includes fighting other dogs, barking, or showing unsocial behavior.

Do NOT leave any pet (or child!) in a vehicle at any time—it will be hotter than you think, and it is fatal.

  • You are welcome to bring your own bottled water (alcoholic beverages are not permitted) and snacks. We also have terrific vendors on hand providing the best in food and beverages.

There are water stations for you to refill your water bottles.

  • Because The Great Oregon Steam-Up is held in late July and early August, it may be hot during your visit. If so, here are some tips to Beat the Heat:

    1) Take advantage of the people movers that take you around the park.

    2) Arrive early. The gates open at 7 a.m. The LEGO display opens at 8 a.m., and all museums open at 9 a.m. Please click the “View the 2023 Schedule of Events” at the top of this page to plan your adventure.

    3) Stay hydrated! Bring a water bottle with ice and water. You can refill it for free in the park. Bottled water is also for sale at some of the food vendors and the Country Store.

    4) Bring an umbrella. While there are many shaded areas on the property, most of the grandstands are not shaded. An umbrella will come in handy to provide you with some extra shade.

    5) Go to the Fire Bucket Brigade challenge, and when given a bucket of water to put out the fake fire, miss and spill it all over yourself. 😁😁😁

    6) Wear a hat. According to the TODAY Website, "The best hats for sun protection have a brim of at least three inches to shade the face, scalp, neck, shoulders and upper back" There's a vendor that sells "solar hats" with a built-in fan.

    7) Wear loose-fitting and light clothing. White clothing helps reflect the heat, whereas black clothing attracts the heat.

8 ) Dip a handkerchief or neck gaiter in cold water and put it around your neck.

    9) Take advantage of the cooling areas in the park that are marked on the attached map (see “View the Steam-Up Map link at the top of this page) and the one you are given when you arrive.

    10) Many places will sell cold treats, including ice cream and root beer floats. Treat yourself to a tasty cooldown!

Also, please remember to wear sunscreen.

We want you to have a blast at The Great Oregon Steam-Up and hope these tips help keep you cool while being a part of a 54-year "Oregon Heritage Tradition!"

  • You are more than welcome to take photos and video while at The Great Oregon Steam-Up. We encourage you to share them with others so that they can learn about this event! If you use hashtags, good ones to use are #greatoregonsteamup / #oregonsteamup / or simply #steamup
